Gaussian distribution:
Another name for the normal distribution, after its discoverer Gauss.

Gradient:
Also called slope. The gradient indicates how steeply a line slopes. You will come across this when using
the linefitting technique. A line is described by its gradient and intercept, the point at which the line crosses
the y-axis.
